Christmas Special Opening Hours and Program 2025

Turku Market Hall warmly welcomes everyone to enjoy the Christmas season in its atmospheric surroundings!

Get ready for fun, surprises, and festive cheer for the whole family. Elves, Santa Claus, Lucia, and live music will bring the magic of Christmas from the end of November all the way through the holidays.

Market Hall opening hours:
Monday–Friday: 8:00–18:00
Saturday: 8:00–16:00

Christmas season program:

Sat 29 Nov – Visit from Förrin & Elf antics
The Christmas season kicks off with a visit from the city center’s own Förri mascot at 14:00! Elves Vanamo and Vihma will entertain visitors from 10:00–15:00 with playful pranks, temporary tattoos, and secret elf stories you can also take home.

Fri 5 Dec – Christmas Wheel of Fortune & Elf pranks
Elves roam the hall spreading joy from 10:00–15:00. Try the Christmas Wheel of Fortune on the hour at 12:00, 13:00, and 14:00 for a chance to win wonderful products from the merchants, gift cards, and Market Hall’s own Christmas calendars!

Wed 10 Dec – Turku Society Memory Game Tournament
Test your memory, challenge your friends, and enjoy a relaxed evening of fun from 18:00 – guaranteed cheerful competition and good times!

Fri 12 Dec – Herkkunuotta Super Afterwork
Kick off the weekend from 16:00 with Herkkunuotta Super AfterWork, offering delicious flavors, great company, and a cozy atmosphere.

Sat 13 Dec – Santa Claus & Elves’ Christmas Activities
Santa Claus visits with elves to meet children and take photos on the hour from 10:00–14:00. Expect joyful encounters and lovely photo memories!

Mon 15 Dec – Lucia Procession
The traditional Lucia procession brings light and warmth to the dark evening at 17:00.

Fri 19 Dec – Elves’ Christmas Preparations & Choir Singing
Elves bring festive bustle to the hall from 10:00–15:00 and hand out gingerbread surprises with a playful riddle inside. The day concludes with performances by the Turku Women’s Choir at 16:00 and 17:00.

Sat 20 Dec – Elves’ Christmas Preparations & Christmas Music
Enjoy cozy music by pianist-singer Eveliina Jaatinen at 12:00, 13:00, and 14:00, while elves continue their preparations around the hall from 10:00–15:00.

Wed 24 Dec – Christmas Eve Devotion
The hall opens early at 6:30 for the traditional Christmas Eve devotion led by Dean Aulikki Mäkinen at 7:00.

29 Nov–23 Dec – Bageri Å’s Porridge Pop-up
Bageri Å brings warmth to the hall throughout Advent with steaming, freshly made rice porridge.
