The 129th anniversary of the Market Hall will be celebrated from October 15 to 18.
Turku Market Hall first opened its doors to the public in 1896 and remains Finland’s second-oldest operating market hall. For more than a century, it has been a beloved meeting place for locals and visitors alike, offering fresh flavors, specialty shops, and a unique atmosphere. The Market Hall has retained its charm throughout the decades, thriving today thanks to both traditional merchants and new entrepreneurs.

Birthday Week Program
🎈 Throughout the week, from Wednesday to Saturday, vendors will be handing out balloons to visitors.
Thursday, October 17
- 12:00 & 13:00 – Visit from Förri, the mascot of Turku city center
Turku’s cheerful mascot Förri joins the Market Hall celebrations, spreading joy, high-fives, and fun throughout the corridors while handing out balloons to children.
Friday, October 18
- 18:00 – Vive le Vin Wine Tasting: “Piemonte” at Restaurant Vive
A relaxed two-hour wine tasting experience in the heart of Turku. Registration at the counter or via vive@ravintolavive.fi.
Saturday, October 19
- 13:00 – Jaranas del Norte
A colorful, rhythmic concert brings audiences to the coastal landscapes of Veracruz, Mexico. The band performs traditional Son jarocho music, blending jarana guitars, vocals, and lively zapateado dance. The festive, community-centered spirit of Mexican village celebrations comes alive in the Market Hall’s food court. - 14:30 – Ampa Trio
The afternoon continues with vibrant African rhythms as Ampa Trio, led by Beninese musician Akim Color, fills the hall with music inspired by West African village festivities. Their acoustic sound, rooted in traditional beats, invites audiences to dance, sing, and join in a warm, uplifting celebration.
